Here is Chloe's story....
Chloe is my first baby. I had my first scan and everything was fine so my next scan was booked for 20 weeks. On the day of my 20 week scan they had told us everythng was fine but because of the babies position they could not get measurment of head so to go back next day when baby was in different position. I didn't think this was anything to worry about as the heart was never mentioned so the next day my partner John didn't even come with me rather than taking another day off work my sister did because they had told us I would literally be in 2 mins because they had did most of the checks. Anyway to cut a long story short the sonogropher had said they could not get a good view of the heart so afer being referred to a doctor then heart doctor we were told Chloe had a bad heart but what was diagnosed was not as serious as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome which is what was found out when Chloe was born. So after many scans it was decided I would be induced on 29 June but in end I had a caserean on 2 July because Chloe just did not want to come! Chloe had her operation at 4 days old the Norwood procedure and she came through it without any problems. Then 10 days after her operation she suffered a cardiac arrest for no known reason although it could of been down to an infection. Chloe had to go on an ECMO machine to bring her back and come off that after 4 days. After that we had up and down days all of the time with doctors saying one day she was doing well and next day saying she needs to improve to survive but every time she come back fighting. Fast forward 6 weeks when Chloe was 43 days old and me and her Dad John just knew when we walked in on the morning by her eyes she just looked so tired and I knew then she had nothing left to fight. The doctors confirmed what I knew and had told us Chloe had pneumonia and would not last the day so they told us they could take Chloe off the ventilator and let me hold her while she passed or she would go anyway still attached to her wires and machines. I did not want my little girl to go that way so I said I wanted her given to me. Chloe passed way in my arms after getting a cuddle off both me and her Daddy and she looked so peaceful when she had fallen asleep.
We held the funeral on 21 August 09 we had only family there as that is what we wanted. We had Chloe cremated and have now got her ashes at home where she belongs. We had Sting I'll be mIssing You and Eric Clapton Tears in Heaven as funeral songs and the following poem was read out at the service :

Dear Lord,
In the new year, we pray
that You will guide us each new day
in paths that are pleasing to You.
Lord, the new year gives us another chance
to rededicate our lives to You,
to study Your Word
so that we know right from wrong
and to act in accordance with Your commands.
Thank You for the sense of
direction, purpose and peace we get
from aligning our lives with Your Holy will.
